Hey, I've decided, forced to, to replace my old 460 with a newer motor, (rod thro block issues)..Anyways found a motor on ebay that is near me and have looked at it. The casting numbers are d1ve 6015 aa.. it is now stroked to a 460 he says. What I want to know would this be a good option to go with(Being a converter 429?) and is it really a scj block? does it sound like a decent engine or something not worth putting in my mud truck?
Thanks!! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...8725469&rd=1,1
Is it really a SCJ block? NO. all SCJ blocks were factory 4 bolt. CJ could be either but there is no difference between a 2 bolt CJ block and grandma's grocery getter station wagon engine. Also the heads are not CJ, SCJ heads (that would be casting number DOOE-R) and it's got nothing more than a factory 460 crank. basically the guy is just dropping the CJ name trying to raise the bid. most likely it was just like any other 460, probably didn't even start life out as a 429. Now if the price stays reasonable and the parts used to rebuild it are decent then fine but don't pay a dime extra for it cause he claims it's a SCJ cause it's not.
Ive been doing a lot of research and everywhere I read says a 6015 aa is a cj..and only 6015..not a a2a or anything else..cant find anywhere that doesnt say that. The heads are not, there a regualr head i know, but it has thicker mains than my 460.
