If it's like my '73 F100, first you take out all the screws, slide it to the left so you can get your arm in to take out the screws in the heater housing vent door thing underneath to the right, remove it from below and...presto! It then can come out. At least that's how mine works.
I just took out the 4 screws and moved the right side of the box forward and put a bit of a twist on the hole box and it comes throughthe glove box door opening. I just aquired a new liner from an outfit in Texas called Restorite Auto Parts. It was made by "Re-Pops" here in the U.S. It fit very well and has all the right cutouts and holes. It was however missing the 4 nutplates used to mount the liner. I used 4 spring nuts from my local hardware and put it in, the reverse of taking it out. Looks great.
I scored mine on ebay for $10.00 + 10.00 shipping. Dennis Carpenter carries them along with a couple of other suppliers. I bought this one because the price and timing was right. Here you go: 250127083283 on ebay right now.

My truck's is missing altogether - I have the new one, but one quick question. Do the nut plates attach to the box or the sheetmetal (box internal or external, in other words)?

The nut plates attach to the liner NOT the sheet metal. I used some small spring nuts from my local hardware.
I got a plastic one from Bronco Graveyard. I love it. Very much superior to original. It took me a few minutes to get it in and its tough getting all the scew holes to match but it looks great
