Right size tires?

I just blew a rip in one of my tires which had about 30K miles on them. No plug or patch will fix. I bought the truck a few months ago with 315/75/16's. Big tires but I"m not sure I need them. A little off road towing a tow hauler and dirt bikes once in a while. What tires are some of you running who are not into the bigger, wider tires? What was stock? I can hit Sams or Costco. I liked the BF Goodrich AT tires on my 150. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

stock my truck came with 265/75/16 you will probably get a little better milage with some smaller tires also. I just bought a set of bridgestone dueler at revos for my truck and i like them. they are more agressive than stock but not too agressive and they have a quiet ride also

My truck came with the 265/75-16's, but it's a crew cab long bed 350. I know the 250 extended cabs came with a 235/85-16's.

I am running 285/95r16 on mine. There a smaller then the 35s but still fill the wheel wells pretty good with leveling kit.

From my experience the bfg a/ts and toyo a/ts are both good tires for road and some offroad.

How about RIMS?

Will the rim size matter if I want to go from a 315/75/16 to 265-285?? These are aftermarket rims and the actual diamater is about 17.5" and 9" wide.
