1989 7.3L turbo charged and the oil pan has holes like swiss cheese, im in the process now of pulling engine and what not, any body have any tips or do's and donts??

anybody have the same problem?
any tips greatly appreciated
thanks guys!
Since the full dress motor alone is about 1100 pounds, pulling the tranny with it is almost impossible.
I have pulled my engine several times.
My truck is 4x4 which puts the top of the radiator shell rather high.
I pulled it once with a motor hoist, and swore I would never do it again with the radiator shell still on the truck.
1100 pounds high enough in the air to clear the radiator shell with the oil pan is very scary.
That is also compounded by the fact you have to turn the motor about 45 degrees to get the crank pulleys below the top of the radiator shell.
I have used an engine hoist since that, but I did pull the radiator shell, just have to go high enough to clear the front bumper with the oil pan and no twisting it sideways to clear the pulleys.
To take it out the top, a chain hoist is the only way to go and be safe in my opinion.
Take the tires off or lower the pressure down to the rim................ I had about 1 inch clearance on a 93 4x4 at full lift extension tires inflated. If you want the R&R info for the engine and pan removal .......click on my name and email me.......ask for pan and engine removal....
