Hi = i have an '88 f150 2wd with the 302. Here's my question. If i let the gas tank go below 1/4 a tank, the truck stalls and wont start up again. I have had the truck to a repair shop and a bunch of parts were replaced but the problem is still there. Any suggestions? I'm running 87 octan on the rear tank(front one went bye-bye) withch is clean as new(the sensor/pump/screen are clean as well).
Should be able to tell about the gauge by the amount of gas it takes to refill the tank.
This kind of reminds me of my sister in law. They got a new car. They lived next door to a gas station, but drove a lot of miles everyday. She ran out of gas three times in the first two weeks. She said" I don't understand it. In the old car when the gauge got to empty, I could make two more trips into town, but when this one gets to empty it IS empty." This woman is an intensive care nurse. Got peoples life in her hands daily. Scarey thought ain't it.
well - this aint no new truck. It gets down to just below(a hair or lower) and then it stutters and stalls. I've never ran into this problem in all my time owning a ford truck.

I'm at worlds end on this one,

Your in-tank boost fuel pump is not running, either it is not getting power, not grounded or it is a bad pump.
i dont have a front tank. And if i have water in the tank at that point(when it gets down to 1/4 tank), how do i fix it?

its simple just lay under the truck and have a look. Its got 2 metal straps holding it up which are held in w/2 bolts. You have to undo those bolts then watch out for the filler neck. its very straight foward. use a floor jack to help lower it slowly especially if there is alot of fuel int he tank.
