If you stop by the graveyard to pick her up some posies, be sure to remove any "Rest in Peace" ribbons .... they are a guaranteed turnoff.

I've recently done the first date with "pick me up" flowers from the grocery store, and I've also done the first date with nothing at all.

Both dates went well. How well do you know her? Are you just meeting her, or is this someone you know that you're just starting to "date"?

Have fun, be yourself, and relax...she's just as nervous as you are.

No flowers at all. Every other guy out there is showin up with corny old flowers. You gotta stand out man. Instead find an area like a park that has flowers growing, and pick a few while you are enjoying a stroll after dinner. She will appreciate the gesture, and remember you for your originallity. Corny is in, actually it never went out, but you gotta be corny like nobody else. Gotta stand out from the crowd if you want to get noticed. You don't have to go crazy overboard, but she will remember the little things.
A small token like a wild flower can't be topped by any other dudes out there, and when it does come time to buy her some, the reminder of the first date by including that same type of flower in the arrangement will be a memory that lasts forever.
Most importantly, be yourself, have fun, open the door for her, and make sure both of you have enough fun to want to do it again. Fun is gonna be the key. First dates bring with them a lot of pressure, so relax, and be cool. Everything will work out fine.

Oh yeah. Good Luck!!!!!

What I'd like to know is what are you two going to do-where are you going? I'm guessing having supper in a resturaunt for one thing. If so, remember: sit up straight, don't drool or make faces, clean your plate and remember to say "Please" and Thank You". She will appreciate it...believe me!

I usually show up to a first date with another girl...you know, just in case things don't work out with the other girl(and they usually don't) I won't be going home alone.

Sounds like great advice! but you left out no belching, farting, undoing the button on you pants after dinner or scratching yourself.

Durring the date. Get her to talk about her and pay attention. There is always a test. It's called a relationship!
Remember favorite flower if any.
For god sake call the next day if you felt it went well.
Or send a bouquet of her favorite flowers to her with a short brief note Stating you had a lovely time. and would love to see her again.
If you opt to call: A great second date opener with a fresh bouquet of her favorite flower. This is a key thing. It shows them you are listening and makes you worth something over other guys. So set yourself apart.
The old school boy, wait 2 days before you call, rule was garbage then.
Don't even mention any ex's name or referance to something simular they have done. So in other words ex the ex's out of the conversation completely!

If you do get flowers be sure to arrange them in a vase before you pick her up...That way, all she has to do is enjoy them! I wouldn't go roses either. Way too formal.

For future reference, you can pick up vases cheap at flea markets, yard sales etc

Good Luck....

Let me clarify on one thing here....Calling once is a good thing. But calling 25 times a day is a no-no. And the same goes for the note, one=good, 25=bad. Also, in the note leave out words and phrases like "destiny", "love", "we were meant to be", "If I can't have you, I'll kill myself", "I was up all night thinking about you" (that one's not too bad, but it's kinda creepy), and "Will you marry me." Trust me on this...I've learned the hard way.

Not true they may hit it off and leave you all by your lonesome.
and that's only happened like 5 times...but two of those times they let me watch, so it wasn't a total loss...

Or for the police putting handcuffs on for pillaging someone else's property

Like finding a manhole cover and using it as a frisbee to knock down a bank robber

cjben, you gotta tell us how this date went. We need details, man, details. Don't leave anything out! We've all got too much invested in this not to know what happened. C'mon! We're countin' on 'ya, man!
