I Have a 2001 Explorer Sport. I was told that the ac compr. was no good. So I removed the old comp. accum. and orifce tube. Flushed the system Replaced all the parts vacuumed to -30. But when I recharged the system .it cools but the comp. cut on and off almost killing the motor when stopped. WHAT am I missing please help
How did the old compressor fail? Was there a lot of debris in the old orifice? If it spit it's innards into the condenser, you probably still have debris in there that is now plugging the orifice. Condenser replacement is usually recommended because parallel flow (R134) condensers can't be reliably flushed after a catastrophic compressor failure.
Post your system pressures (MAX AC, high blower, doors open, 1500 RPM). This will help to figure out the problem.
Did you manually turn the old compressor by hand to work the oil into it, before you installed it? If you allow the engine to kick on a dry compressor, it can destroy it.
If the compressor is cycling on and off, then either you didn't charge it enough, a pressure switch is bad, or there is a restriction causing the low side pressure to drop too low (and/or high side too high)
