Ignition Problems

I have an 88' F250 with a manual trans and a 7.3 idi. The starter won't crank when I turn the key. I can crank the starter and start the truck if a manually ground the relay. It seems like the clutch pedal won't go down far enough to allow the starter to crank. How can a check the clutch pedal?

There should be a clutch pedal position switch..... check it for correct attachment to pedal arm.

as plc stated ... the clutch position switch could be goofy and also there is a rod that runs down thru the steering column that activates the switch on the bottom of the steering column that goes goofy too.

How did you bypass it? Where are the wires for the clutch switch?

You'll have to lay down on the floor and look up on the clutch shaft and you will see it. Best not to bypass it as it is a safety switch. I did that on an old car and my son (15 at the time) accidentally started the car and wound up hitting my wife.
