I don't believe that info is found in the VIN since it's a trim option. The VIN usually breaks down like this:
First 3 digits denote series, I.E. F10 for F-100, F11 for F-100 4X4, F25 for F-250, F26 for F-250 4X4 etc.
Forth digit is the engine. A= 240/6, B i= 300/6, G is 302, H= 390 and Y=360
Next digit is the assembly plant, C= Ontario, CANADA, D= Dallas, TX, E= Mawah, NJ, H= Lorain, OH, K= Kansas City, KAN, L= Michigan Truck plant, N= Norfolk, VA, P= Twin Cities, MN, R= San Jose, CA, S= Allen Park, MI (Pilot plant) and U= Louisville, KY
The remaining 6 digits are the consecutive serieal number for the truck.
I sent my '68's VIN to Ford's Customer Service Division and requested a build sheet, it gave my quite a bit of that info including the Ranger trim level. Also, check your door tag, a lot of that info is there if you have the original driver's door on the truck.
1966/69 = Look on the VIN plate located on the door face near the latch. Where it says BODY is what tells what model it is. The 3 digit code must be translated. Post it here.
