I broke my driveshaft last week, now my pinion is leaking. What size of thin wall socket do i need for the front and back. Are they the same size. Is it inch and a quarter or eighth??/
I had to buy a cheap socket, and grind down the outside to fit in the yoke. It's now one of those tools that stand out when you open my tool box. People ask, what the heck is that for?

Ground down my share of sockets and heated+bent my share of wrenches tho.

It all depends on the brand of socket. I didn't have the correct socket, so I ended up buying a cheap one that was made in China, and the socket wall was so thick it wouldn't fit inside the yoke (cheap sockets tend to have a thicker wall to make up for the inferior steel they use overseas). Mine is 1-5/16", and fits both my dana 60 and 70

Check auto store for the free tool rentals: I used a 34mm for front wheel drive axle nuts. My math tells me that a 34mm is only 13 thousandths of an inch bigger than a 1-5/16". ( DANA 70 )
