'08 Diff cover ques.

How much fluid does the '08 rear diff cover take after putting it on our OBS 10.25? I know several of you have done this. I went to buy the Royal Purple 75 W 140 today and they only had 3 quarts. The book from RP says ours ('97) holds 7.5 Pints but I know the new cover holds more. How much do I need? I would imagine 4 quarts MIGHT get it but I am thinking of getting 5 to be safe. Thanx in advance.

08 cover doesn't hold any more than stock. 4 quarts should get the job done with some to spare

Thanx Tim.

When I seal it up should I put a bead of Hi-temp gasket sealant around the "o-ring" looking bead? I don't think there is a gasket so I wanted to put some sealant either the red or blue silicone. What is best?

yes silicone the cover. I like permantex ultra black. pretty much as long as both surfaces are clean and free of oil any silicone will seal it.

I used the ultra black stuff and no leaks on mine or my dads 04. They look pretty sharp but its the fluid thats the pricy part of this project.

Thanx permatex ultrablack it is. $45 for cover and whatever the fluid will be tomorrow. Still a cheap mod and very easy to do. Gotta stay a step above the average bear a' bobo?
