I have a 2003 f350 4x4 7.3. Recently I have had a knocking in the front end. I feel it under the drivers side floor board. It has continued to get worse. Started only on large bumps, however now it is on any bump large or small. I have tightened the cab bolt under the drivers side floorboard. I have changed the sway bar ends and bushings. I had the entire spring packs changed about 7 months ago (leveling kit). On past trucks I have had to change hub assembly's but this feels a little different. What do you guys think???
2nd problem...
Friends f350 2002 7.3
In the morning when truck is not yet warmed up, the truck seems to miss badly. At first he thought it was a tire going to fall off. The truck seemed to vibrate badly. Once engine comes up to temperature, the truck runs fine.
if you changed sway bar links make sure they are nor installed upside down, or they will contact the frame and make noise. Also, if you replaced them with stock ones, they are probably bad again. My second set of brand new ones thumped out of the box. Get some polyurethane replacement bushings from Energy, Prothane or Daystar and never look back. Another thought is to make sure the sway bar bushings themselves are the right size. They come in two diff diameters, and my '01 had the wrong size from the factory. Other things to check are the spring shackle and the swaybar brackets they have been known to break. Ball joints are a remote possibility no matter what the mileage on these trucks too.
Keep us posted.
On the running rough there are a number of possibilities, but guessing is like shooting in the dark. Check to see if any codes are set and go from there.
I will save a ton of brain and wallet damage.
1st problem fixed. Bad Sway bar link out of the box from Ford!!! Oh well...
2nd problem. Truck is at shop, Mechanic says may be a cracked block! Aparently he has seen this a couple of times. The crack does not allow oil pressure to build correctly until the engine heats up enough to close the crack???? Sounds like BS to me... Anyone ever heard of this As for codes, I scanned it yesterday before he took it to the shop. No codes, Also never trips light on dash.

Sounds like BS to me also, I've been reading and learning on this FTE site for a while now and haven't ever heard that diagnosis before!
I work at a ford dealership and I havent seen a cracked block yet... Like jrciii56 says a crack would expand when hot and that would make matters worse not better!
