So ten ungaraged New England winters are finally starting to take their toll on my dear old Ranger...
Here is the bottom of the passenger's door, the driver's door isn't as bad yet, but is headed the same direction. If I get right on it, this looks like I should just be able to sand it down, hit it with some kind of primer or rust converter, and then paint it, but I don't know for sure. Any suggestions on how to do it, and what to use to prime and paint it?
And here's the bottom of the passenger's side fender, which is more the victim of a friend who was helping me bleed the brakes than time or salt. I was figuring to use white Rustoleum on the bottom of the door, anyone know if it will match my white truck (code YZ) well enough not to look bad at a glance?
I have no real experience with car body work, and haven't been real happy with the results when I've painted metal things, but I did work as a part-time wall painter in high school, so I'm no stranger to a paint-brush... Anybody want to share any tips?
Don't have any experience with rust removal and painting. However, if you have frame and other underbody rust and the metal is intact, you may want to consider using Rust Bullet, it's a rust inhibitor coating that gets rave reviews. I haven't tried it yet, but plan to have an application applied to my truck when I take it out of storage next spring of next year.
