Valve Job?
I am replacing the factory cam shaft, lifters, 2 barrel intake and carbureator, and exhaust manifolds. I am reinstalling an RV cam shaft, new hydraulic lifters, 4 barrel aluminum intake and carbureator, and headers.
The engine is a 400M in a 1979 F-250. After disassembling it yesterday it appeared everthing was factory Ford install. The engine has 127,000 miles on it.
If I have the heads remachined will that cause lower engine problems later? I am doing this in-frame and trying not to do a complete rebuild just yet.

Actually this is a basic engine topic
Maybe post in the 335 engine series forum.
The topic isn't 73-79 specific
and yes in some cases re-building the top or bottom just by themself will cause the NON-rebuilt system to fail.

Here's an idea, good or bad... get a running 351 and slap it in there temporary, then resell the 351 when you get your 400M done like you want?
Or something like that? :)
Or nothing like that? :)
