any Ideas?

I have a 1988 F250 EFI with a 351 and a c6 3.55 auto t<?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com[img] /><st1:PersonName w:st=[/img]r</st1:PersonName>ansmission. The t<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName>uck is a supe<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName>cab with 145k o<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName>iginal miles. I have had this t<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName>uck fo<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName> a few yea<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName>s and love it. It is ve<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName>y clean and well taken ca<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName>e of. Acco<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName>ding to eve<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName>yone I have eve<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName> had look at it says it is one of the st<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName>ongest they have seen. He<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName>e is my question. I use this t<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName>uck fo<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName> camping and hunting t<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName>ips. I haul a slide in campe<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName> a<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName>ound and tow a 14' utility t<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName>aile<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName> with 2 full size quads and fuel. I know the weight of the t<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName>uck/campe<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName> togethe<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName> is 9150lbs. The t<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName>aile<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName> loaded up is about 2250lbs. I know it’s a little ove<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName> the 11000 GCWR by 400lbs.Is the<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName>e anything I can do to this t<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName>uck to be able to go ove<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName> some of the steep mountain passes he<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName>e in <ST1lace w:st="on"><st1:State w:st="on">O<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName>egon</st1:State></ST1lace> and go faste<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName> then the 35-40MPH I am cu<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName><st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName>ently going? I have no plans to sell this t<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName>uck. I know that a 460 would be nice. Can I change the gea<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName>ing? Can I do some pe<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName>fo<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName>mance enhancements? This t<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName>uck has no p<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName>oblem getting to and pulling 70MPH on the long st<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName>etches of flat highway we t<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName>avel. It is the hills that get me. The t<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName>uck does not ove<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName> heat but the temp gage does climb close to the L in "no<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName>mal." This is nothing new with this t<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName>uck I just figu<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName>ed I would th<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName>ow it out the<st1:PersonName w:st="on">r</st1:PersonName>e. first is keep it serviced twice as often when you are putting that kind of lode on it. dont try to do crazy things and it will do fine.

second put the biggest trainsmition cooler you can on it in addition to the ones you already have.

its a Ford it will handle it

With the weight you are hauling and living in the "hills" I'd go for 4:10 rears. Empty if may hurt MPG some but if you are not 65 or above probably not much. But with load will take hills better and maybe a little better mileage. It will lug better without being floored.
If you haul weekly yes the 460 Might be for you . But if just a weekend thing and this is a driver most time the few extra MPG on the 351 will be nice.
