Compression question
Got a question regarding compression...
Did a compression test on my 302... Don't know what has been done to the engine.. Readings were 200-210 in all 8 cyclinders... Could carbon or soot build up cause this high of a reading? The consistency is good so I'm thinking perhaps the previous owner did something to the heads...

Might have domed or flat top pistons, the real question is does it ping or knock? If not then don't sweat it. Have a shop do a Leak-down test to test for sealing of the vavles and rings. this will give you a good indication of the health of the motor along with compression.
