Every now and again my truck will hiccup (i.e. the engine basically stops for a split second) and then keep running like nothing happened. This has happened 6 or 7 times in the last couple of weeks, and the SES light has come on twice (and gone off again when restarted). Now this may be a total coincidence, but so far this has only happened when it has been raining out.
Truck is a 2000 PSD with an AFE filter mod and the GPR upgrade. Otherwise, it's stock and had a new CPS installed about 3,000 miles ago.
was the CPS installed 3000 miles ago a Fordor International or was it an aftermarket? I had one i bought from O'reilly Auto parts start to go bad in less then 3,000 miles. i replaced it with the new $15 grey one from ford, all is good now.
I really needed a replacement today so I went to a local stealership (Freeway Ford in Denver) to see if they had one of the gray B units. The parts guy had no idea what I was talking about until he punched in the part number and up it came ("hmmm, the B part number is a lot cheaper than the A one"). He ended up ordering me the part from another Denver dealer and charged me $37. Not bad for getting it the same day.
It remains to be seen whether this is the problem, but I'm very happy to have a $37 new-and-improved CPS sitting in my glovebox, just in case.
Thanks for all of the reponses posted here - that's why I love this forum.
