I just bought a new (to me) 2000 F-350 SD 7.3L PSD SRW that came with a lot of stuff prior owners put on it. It has a 4" lift (brand unknown), 16.5" wheels with 35X12.50 tires, 5" dual exhaust (brand unkown), a three-guage pod on the A-pillar reading EGT/Boost/Trans temp, an electric brake controller and a mystery switch next to the 4X4 selector dial.
For some reason, the pressure line for the boost gauge has been capped off in the engine bay. That implies to me that the truck once had an aftermarket turbo kit that has been removed and returned to stock. What do you guys think?
Anyway, hello everyone and I anticipate I will be asking lots of dumb questions since I don't even know enough to search the forums.
As far as the gauge, just hook it back up. There are two ways these are normally done: a T in the MAP line, or a plug that replaces the air intake heater with a fitting on it. Look for them and see which applies, and hook it up...
Welcome to the site! Lots of great info on here. Everybody is willing to share their experiences, good or bad. Hopefully you'll have plenty of GOOD stuff to share soon!
So I found out what my mystery switch does. It switches the backlit Ford logo on the grill on and off. I also discovered all the gauges are not hooked to any probes/senders. I don't know why I am still getting EGT and Trans Temp readings. Awesome.
