New Member looking for help with Brakes
I finally fulfilled my child hood dream and bought a 56 about 3 weeks ago. The truck is bone stock. I have rewired it from front to tail and replaced the brake light swith on the back of the master cylinder but still have no brake lights. I have tail lights but no brake lights. Can anybody help me? I am sure I missing something obvious but can not figure it out. Again thanks for any help you can offer.

Welcome to the board!!
It is very common for the brakelight switches to go bad. They are pretty easy to diagnose (and replace). Take a meter or a test light and check and see if you have power to the switch. Then see if you have power going through the switch when the brakes are applied. The switch is readily available at most parts stores.
Once you get settled in around here take some time and get a gallery set up. We just love to check out pics of what the other guy has.
Good luck
Bobby

Bobby thanks for the info. I was able to determine that my switch is good but after a call to Sac. Vintage last night and the helpful advice of T900 I found my problem. My whole turn signal harness is sitting on the garage floor!! Guess I will have to work on my signals. Thanks for the help I'm sure I will need more. Bing

1956 F Series trucks had two different turn signal switches.
B6AZ-13341-A Marked = FDR-14486-A 35.25"-long
B6C-13341-A Marked = FDV-13341-A
The B6AZ switch was also used 1956/58 Ford cars.
The B6C switch was used 1956/60. But, only on trucks that have a 1 1/2" diameter steering column.
While the parts catalog doesn't say, the difference in the switches has to do with factory installed turn signals, as opposed to dealer installed turn signals. The dealer installed signals use a different switch.
That's right, it's hard to believe today, but turn signals were an extra cost option back then.
