i am working on an 02 F450 with V10 and the truck seems to idle fine and quarter throttle its ok anything more it falls flat on it face and i have replaced the fuel filter and after new fuel filter it will run fine for about a day and then same thing. I have dropped the fuel tank and cleaned and installed a new sending unit and still the same thing. Instaleed new fuel lines from tank to fuel rail and still nothing. ANY SUGGESTIONS are greatly appreciated.
Thanks Billy
there is no check eng. light
monitoring the MAF with scan tool and it seems to be operating within parameters. fuel pressure is good.
The engine does not die but will not turn faster than about 2000 rpm in gear and injector pulse width is maxed out. ohh and the truck only has 33k
i finally got it the problem was a plugged cat.
Just in case any of you run in to this just get an infered laser thermometer and check temp before and after cat temps should be close to the same.
Any other symptoms of a plugged cat? My truck is getting the sulphur, bad egg smell but the power is fine and the truck runs great. Did you replace the cat or bypass it? Where did you get the replacement? Thanks
It is one of the trucks i work on here at work it is a 450 service truck. I didnt get any egg smell but i know what you are talking about and that is cat related. It seemed like a plugged fuel fileter had no power after 1/4 throttle and it ran great when cold. I figured that once the cat warmed up it expanded and caused alot more restiction. It did have a bad smell like it was running extremely lean and that is what lead me to think it was fuel. I just got a replacment cat from ford. Holy crap it wasnt cheap!
