My sister has a strange mount on her garbage disposer that I have never seen before. Instead of the metal bracket that you most commonly see on most garbage disposers this is just a plastic clamp that fits snuggly ontop of the splash guard. This device evidently holds the entire disposer against the sink with the help of the usual screws that go into the drain pipe. Well this clamp evidently had a bit of wear and tear on it and broke the other day. Trying to find a new clamp to replace it with because the disposer works great and don't want to waste the money on a new disposer when we already have one that runs perfectly. I was wondering if you guys might have seen this or know who might sell them?
I went to Lowes and the guy looked totally dumbfounded.

I can understand the guy a Lowe's having that look. My first reaction was similar to the expression on a deer's face, the first time that he sees headlights!
You might find that replacing the disposer with a newer one will be faster.
I know that the In-sink-erator that I replaced had all of the associated hardware in the box.
How old is the unit? I also was like a plastic mount? I had to get a new disposer due to the old one rusting out on the outlet and making a mess under the sink. I can tell you it may be cheaper to just buy a new disposer with all metal tops.
Is the plastic cast into the housing or could you retrofit something from a newer model?
some of the older Sears disposals used that kind of connection between the sink and disposal, can't remember the model name right now. (waste king maybe?)
don't think you'll find that part.
just replace it.
If it is a sears, you can go to their website and see if they have replacement parts. I've done that a few times. You need a model# I think.
You might not like the price ( a shear pin for my snowblower was $3.00).
Also, they have cut back on service dep'ts in the stores. I think that there are only 2 stores that carry service parts in the Twin Cities area. ( That's SAINT PAUL and minneapolis!)
Yeah I think we're just going to replace the disposer. I figured that this was a part that was no longer in true circulation. I appreciate your responses
