Anyone have any helpful hints or tips on installing a pro comp steering stabilzer? I just got one and I am having a hard time matching the instructions with the brackets and parts.
I just added an OEM stabilizer to mine. I'm not sure how they're different. All I needed was 2 u-bolts and their respective nuts, axle mount bolt and nut, tie rod bracket and it's respective bolt and nut, and the stabilizer itself. I used the right-most groves on the tie rod, if you're looking at the front of the truck. You should be able to find one in a parking lot, to see how it's mounted.
I've installed a few of those as well and they are pretty straight forward. If you are having fitment problems, suspect a wrong part before anything else.
Not sure if you've already done the install or not but I just put one on my 250 about 3 weeks ago. Did you get the kit or just the shock (stabilizer)?
I installed just the stabilizer using the factory brackets. I had to get a smaller bolt than the one that came with the ES-2000 stabilizer though as it wouldn't go through the factory bolt hole. I ordered the bolt from Ford because when bought my truck someone had removed the factory stabilizer. Other than that it worked great.
Thanks for the input guys, I got it installed about a week ago and it has made a huge difference. The factory one had long been removed and the mounting bracket was bent, so after a little "fabrication" I got it to fit and it works great.
