Project truck.

I have begun my search for a 69 f-100 shortbox. I am looking to buy an old truck with a good body on it, and just pick away at it. I am tossing around the idea of building up a 460 and dropping that in. What should I know about the old fords? Did they have any re-occuring problems? Has anyone tried to drop in a 460 before? I am just going to learn as I go, so any help or tips would be great.

Well i dont think these older trucks had many problems but today yeah cause they are over how old now it depends if the owner has replaced the parts or left it as is and such im pretty sure tons of people dropped in the ol 460 i know they do like to rust a lot so thats a common problem you should know im assuming

Many of us run 385 series engines both 429 & 460 are 385 series. 460Ford dot com is a on line reference for that engine group unlike any other.
Use the 74 & Up OEM FoMoCo hardware, engine mounting system (3 peices per side) the truck Oil Pan, truck exhaust manifold on the Passenger side, and lots of other common stuff.
Or run headers and aftermarket Oil Pan & so forth. it's fairly common. I turn mid 12.s ant 120+ mph. and I drive to & fro.
