Sounds like a team effort is need here. I'll start it off with the question...why do you think you need a new engine? Knocking? Smoking? Oil in air box? Fouling plugs? Ticking on startup? Water in oil or oil in water? Water going out the exhaust etc? Timing chain? If it is the fuel system, the folks here can walk you through it.
he is cooked the motor was terribly beat on by a teenaged boy and the timing gear went out and the oil pump is done for and asyou know when all this happens everything else is cooked

Good news bad news. You wont find much in many wreckers that year. At least the 20 or so I visit state wide. PA There are small guys yard but when they get them they are in same condition as yours. But do look.
Take a ride way out in country . I could go in a 20 mile radius and find 50 plus truck sitting many of which are do to rust issues . Not knowing your area cant say what will be like for you.
I drove to south Carolina and while going to race shops found 4 rides that I brought home that were just sitting. If you see a ride sitting go ask if its for sale. Having a complete parts ride to fix yours may be way to go. If you get a running one you will have engine and trans. I can pick them up for $400-600 that run and get 2x or more selling parts . Good luck on search
