Some white smoke at cold startup is to be expected, as long as its not exessive. It should normally clear after a few min, though it may take longer in cold weather.

To adjust the IP fuel pressure, rotate the engine untill the timing mark is at the 1 o'clock position (viewed from front of engine).

The fuel screw is behind a triangular shaped cover on the passenger side of the IP, when you remove it, about a quart of fuel will pour out, so have more than a few rags handy (if you can fit a cup of some sort under there, better yet).

Since the IP shaft turns at 1/2 crankshaft speed, the screw may not be at the correct position (a small mirror to look inside is helpfull). If the srew is not visible, you will have to turn the engine over one full revolution. Do not turn it backwards.

Tightining the scew (clockwise) will INcrease fuel pressure, and backing off the screw (counterclockwise) will decrease fuel pressure. Use a good quality allen key, the last thing you need is to strip the srew.
