MPG Experiment

Just drove 500 miles northwest into Kentucky from North Carolina this Saturday at 67 mph, 20.5 mpg. Drove back on Sunday at 73 mph, 18.6 mpg. I was just fooling around, I learned last summer on my trip to Alaska that 62 mph will net me 23.5 mpg. Ya know at todays prices I am not in that big a hurry anymore. Plus on the way back to North Carolina I was using DK and was not using it on Saturday. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

and theres a good reason to have a 99, 20 plus mpg,
maybe the 2wd helps too.

yea, smokin the pipe, maybe, i havent picked up any noticable miles during the summer, but in the winter i do, but for me, its peace of mind that im hoping to protect my fuel system from ULSD.

I hear, 5mph makes a big difference on my truck too. Keeping it under 2K rpm seems to be a good spot for mpg. Yes, 2wd makes a huge difference. Unfortunately, my truck would still be in the gravel pit with 5ton of reclaim in a dump trailer, burried in sand if it were 2wd.... I got stuck pretty good yesterday, so deep I tore a valve stem. That part sucked...

Mark I notice a major difference in my 6.0 with the speed around 65-67 over 70+. If you can stay behind a semi and draft I have gotten as much as 23.5 mpg 65 mph and drafting

I learned years ago that drafting really does work, and I used to play that game, but I just don't feel like paying that much attention anymore.
