Wiring harness ?

Ok, Previous owner trashed my wiring harness. Under hood fire, and wires cut and spliced and all messed up under dash.

? is, I know I need a diesel underhood harness, but what about dash harness. Will gas harness have all the needed connections I need? I know I can get a dash harness in about 10 minutes for $20 or less but the diesel harness will be a little harder to come by.

Guess I need to add, 84 F250 4x4 6.9L

I am sure you could make it work without to much trouble. Most of the harness should be the same. Your lights come out of the left side and the engine stuff comes out of the right along with the blower motor and ac stuff. The main fusable links for the ignition switch and fuse panel may very well be the same .

If you have any wires that you don't know what they are for or where they go, let me know, I will look at a harness I have out of an 83 and I have one out of an 86. I keep harnesses around. They are the best wiring schematic you could have.

Although I can not say for sure, I think most of the wires you need will be in the wiring harness.

You may need to run a wait to start light circuit and a water in fuel light circuit.

Everything else should be in the harness.

For what it is worth, the early 80 trucks had dash gauges that were little more than idiot lights with needles.

The only wire you really need is the ignition wire to the fuel shut off solenoid.
That same wire also powers the fast idle/timing advance solenoid switch, which in turn powers the solenoids.
Wiring an IDI is easy, you really only need one wire that is hot when the key is in the ON position.
I would put in aftermarket volt, oil pressure and water temp gauges, so that eliminates several wires.

I think thats what I am going to do. The truck has A/C and Cruise which I want to retain but I think I may just do some clean up work on the wiring and then add the guages and call it good.
AC seems to only work when it wants to, not sure whats up with that yet. Of course I just threw in some refrigerant to see if it would work, so I guess I need to do some more work on it.
Cruise needs a new amp.
