transfer case squeal
I have a 96 f250 4X4 diesel. I started noticing a squeal when I put the trans in rev (auto tranny). Thinking it was the wheel bearings, I tore both sides down, replaced the oil seal, did a little brake work while I was in there, and come to find out the bearings where fine. Then I just worked my way up from there. Bought u-joints for the driveshaft, and started in on those this morning. While I was waiting for the pb blaster to work its magic, I started turning the driveshaft by hand (meanwhile with the truck on stands and trans in neutral) and heard that same squeal. I easily traced the noise back to the transfer case. I'm running out of patience and willingness to figure this out on my own. I'm not an expert, and have a hard time asking for directions. can anyone help?
