The (hopefully) last lingering problem we're having with this ranger (1997 2.3 4x2 manual) is that when you fill the tank past 3/4 full it dumps gas on the ground. The only code I still get, after the engine change, is a P1443. According to the PDF in this forum that is an evap canister problem of some sort.
Is the evap cannister mounted close to the fuel tank? I'm planning on pulling the bed off the truck to find the fuel leak next weekend, but now I'm thinking that both problems are from the same source.
There is always the possibility that your fuel filler pipe has developed splits right where it clamps to the tank. My '95 ranger's pipe developed splits right where it clamped to the tank. I couldn't fill the tank past 3/4 full without dumping gas on the ground.
