Thermostat/temperature question
i have an 86 ford f150 with the EFI 5.0 302 and i think the thermostat is stuck closed and I was wondering with the EFI, IF the motor overheats too much will ECT sensor tell the computer to shut the engine off

before i rebuilt my 86 f 150 302 efi it over heated and i wish it had a shut down un fortunatly it did not. when i pulled it apart it had so much gunk in the cooling system i wondered how it circulated coolant at all, seems grandpa had forgotten to change both the oil and the coolant on any regular basis and a 70000 mile engine became a boat anchor. but i got the 347 stroker i always wanted...... now i cant afford to drive it much it gets about 7 mpg if you dont put your foot in it but it will get you there fast and pass anything but a gas station
