Was there any type of noise from when you lost your gears or afterwards? Broken ring gears make a clicking noise. How old is your tcase or rear end? Maybe they are just worn out or stripped.
heres what happend/
i was driving at 65 in 4th gear,in two wheel drive all of a sudden nothing! it was like i sliped out of gear to nuturel, which has happend twice befor,so i then tried shifting back in 4th but it was in 4th,so as i slowed down trying to gear down,no gears at all. came to a stop tried all gears and reverse nothing. got out locked 4wheel drive in changed from 2wheel high,to 4wheel high and drove 25 milles no problem.
whatch you think

It's also possible that the rear output broke, but you should have heard a noise.
Like 56F100 said, it may have slipped out of 2Hi and into neutral. It may have went into neutral. You thought you were going into 4Hi, but you were actually putting it back into 2Hi. Assuming everything it still there and turning, putting it into 4wd with the hubs locked on pavement should have put the drivetrain in a bind where it finally wouldn't move after a little bit (or broke something)
I would unlock the hubs and see if it moves again. And then have someone watch to see if the drivelines are turning.
