I'm having noise problems with my 83 Bronco; the inside is really noisy when I drive it. It sounds like road noise. I've replaced the seals on the doors and windows. The carpet is new and I added some matting to cut down on the noise. But it's still very loud inside. Has anyone had this problem? What can I do about it? I really like the Bronco and its loads of fun to drive, but it's so loud inside, I can't even hear the radio. Is this typical with full-size Ford Bronco's? I had a '74 and it was not like this. Any help is appreciated.

How is the top seal?....are there any leaks you've noticed?
How is your hvac system working?....does the door move when you switch between floor/panel/defrost?
The weatherstripping on the windows themselves could be hard/cracked and not sealing.
Same as above but on the top seal.
If the airflow redirection door is not working and is stuck in one position it can allow air/wind noise into the truck while driving.
A problem I have always had is wind noise from the door panels themselves, coming from where the internal door handles are, but new window stripping solved that on my 87 a few years back.
Yup, I have a head liner in front. I replaced the door seals, window seals, (it used to leak water badly), Rear tailgate seal. The shell does not leak, so I can assume that seal should be okay. The tailgate is rusted out on the bottom side, but it was never this loud. (something else to replace). It's just noisy in the cab going about 60+. I want to keep this Bronco, becase it's fun to drive. I read somewhere that the rear pillar is hollow, could this be a problem? I'm not sure what else to do. I've been in other Broncos and the sound level is toleratable. Where is the airflow redirection door located? Is this the flapper the seperates the vents from the defroster? Thanks.
The hvac door is in the dash near the heater core and evaporator core, to rule it out the easy way you can simply move the selection on the dash from panel to floor or defrost and make sure that the air flow changes to the selection you have made. Also check the firewall and make sure that there are no holes that would allow air in to the cab.
I found a small windshield leak when I rolled in that bed liner stuff on the floor boards. I just filled the leaking in. Seamed to fix it, there's no more water leaking. I'll check your other suggestion out tomorrow. Thinking of the drive back from Ruston, it sounded like the loudest road noise was coming from the passenger door. When I replaced the door seals, I also replaced the seal on top of the door. I replaced both side the same. Is it possible that the seal on top of the door is keeping it open a little? The door seams to close okay, after re-adjusting the strikers on both doors. What's your opinion?
if you got roll on bed liner stuff on the floor that is your problem. the carpet and padding is there to stop alot of sound coming up thru the floor. i had the same problem with my 85 bronco when i took out the carpet cuz it got sunk and the carpet got messed up
I placed the old carpeting back on after rolling on the bed liner, but I could not find the same type of padding that the factory uses. I found some other stuff in Lowes that is used in building houses, basically, it's foil and plastic bubble rap. It's only 1/8" thick but water resistant and a good insulator. I don't think it working although, I seen something like this on Power Block, but it had adhesive stuff on one side. I did not bother to check the price. I'm sure it's expensive. Where can you find the same factory insulation online? Is there something better? Has anyone ever used carpet foam?
You can find the self adhesive insulator through Bronco Graveyard, LMC Truck or JCWhitney, it is typically sold in bulk and cut to fit. I know on BG they also have sound deadener matting as well. A combination of the deadener and insulation should cure the problem if the source is the floorboards and firewall. Either way you'll be able to provide exactly what you need through them. Good luck!
I have Michelin 33's, They are brand new about 1000 miles on them. They came with the truck. However I do hear a lot of read noise. I'm replacing the upper door seals on both doors. I ordered them on-line LMC. I had placed aftermarket seals on top of the doors, but I'm wondering if they are letting road noise in. I;m just trying to fix up a cool ride, which i really enjoy driving.
I was having problems with my differential, the bearings were bad in that. I replaced the whole rearend from a 93 EB that was being parted out. The rearend was suppose to be in good shape. Guess I need to have it checked out.
