Ok guys I need some guidance. I purchased a 90 mustang that had been wrecked. I am going to take the engine, wiring and sensors and put them in my 76 bronco. I need your input on what to look out for when I do it. I am leaving the C4 in it for right now because the mustang only has a regular T-5. I would appreciate any input for guys that have done this kind of swap before. Thanks in advance Lance
You will need to add a fuel return line to the gas tank(s) with a fuel injection system. And possibly a different flexplate (flywheel). The newer small blocks had a different balance to them. Does the newer engine have a serpentine belt system--can you still hook up your power steering pump? Throttle linkage modifications?
The february and march 2002 issues of 4wd and sport utility have a two-part article about this that walks through it step by step. I may be able to make copies...
Thanks guys. I looked at most of the places that you recommended it was a huse help. I am now smack dab in the middle of the swap. I am having trouble determining what systems I want to keep and how to wire them in. I got a helm manual off of ebay for 6 bucks and it has been great. I am also taking lots of pictures. I hope to put together a web page to help others wiht their conversions. If any of you have pics that you can email me I would appreciate it. I am looking for ideas on where to mount everything. I love this project. Again thanks guys. Lance
I am in the middle of the same conversion, except I am using an 87 cougar speed density 5.0. Wiring is not real bad if you go slow and tag everything. I know for a fact that you will need a 50 oz flex plate. I happen to have one, as my car had a AOD. Want it?$20 plus shipping. I am going to use either a stock 3 speed or swap to a NP435. What about your kick down linkage? Don't forget, radiator won't work. The outlets are reversed. Good luck.
