When I got my Ex in March I had been reading a lot on this forum and others about the ride and handling problems, so I was not surprised to find I didn't like the ride and it tended to wander. I had already decided I would immediately change out the springs and I went with the V & F code change. I added a Helwig rear anti sway and Rancho 9000 shocks. I will use the EX to tow my 6000# 30ft. TT probably 10-15K a year so sway and wandering were unacceptable. After the above mods on a 6K trip from S. FL to Las Vegas & back I felt the truck was riding well but the tires were exagerating every little seam or small bump. Felt like they were full of concrete, so I researched a bunch and after narrowing it down to the normal 3 or 4 brands plus previous experience with Mich's on my Navigator I decided on them. They also had the 285's which would look a little better and as previously noted they gave me 3305lbs of load cap. and the D rated tires should ride better than the E's. This has proven to be the case so far in the 2000mi I have on them. Have not yet towed the TT with them, but not expecting any problems. I use a Hensley Arrow anti-sway hitch.

Benjoman, I gotta tell ya, after driving your truck, the Michelin "D" tires were just what I was looking for. Thanks for the opportunity to try them out. My truck is a completely different ride and drive with the new tires. It rides a lot more like our Expedition instead of the dump truck and the road wander is completely gone. I towed my Toy Hauler back to Punta Gorda today, and was goling up US41 with cruise control on, doing 70+ and never even knew the trailor was back there. I was running 65psi on the rear, and 55 up front. We are going to have to get together again and do some camping when the weather gets a little cooler and we get out of our rainy season.
So, after reading thru this post and every other one I could find on tire ratings, it seems that for those of us who are not pulling big TTs, etc that D rated tires would be ok?? All I ever tow are atvs and occasionally 150 or so gallons of Bio D. I've never towed anything over 5-6k lbs. How much would you guys say one could safely tow with D rated tires??
I dont know the exact weight, but I dry camp alot, and use baja D tires, we tow a fully loaded water and all Rockwood 8317ss 34 ft trailer GVRW 8008, with a family of 5 and have no problems with sway, and rides very nice, we do use a Reese DC with the set up, we use 65 PSI all 4

Reason: forgot PSI
Last week I had a set of Hankook Dynapro ASRH03-LT 265/75/16 put on. These are E rated and only go for about $130 each. Good tire for the money. I know that some of these E rated tires out there are over $200 a piece. I had a D rated BFG on the Ex when I bought it used. They had balance issues and were ready to be replaced. I found these Hankook to be as cost effective as any D rated tire I could find. My two cents.

That is what I have had on my X now since November. Very happy with them. Probably the best winter driving tire i have run in a long time. They seem to be wearing pretty well as I have put about 10k on them and they still look new, but summer driving is normally harder on them in the wear dept. so we'll see what they look like this fall.
My problem is I want something a little bigger than the 285/75/16s I've got now. Doing a spring swap this weekend and will be getting new tires in a month or so. All the bigger sizes I find are only D rated. . . . .
