Hose replacement question

I am about to order and replace the 6 hoses on the intercooler and manifold.. Is there a trick on installing the orange hoses on the manifold.. Looking at it, it does not seem like an easy task..being that they are on opposite angles. (it will be easy to remove em, just cut them off.). And what is the id diameter of these 2 hoses?

I can tell you what I've learned by watching my turbo being R&R'd at two different shops. To remove, loosen the clamps at the inlet plenum and remove the boots with them still attached to the X manifold, installing is just the reverse, get one boot started first and then the other, then press down on the X manifold and wiggle it a little to slide the boots all the way down onto the plenum. Of course I'm sure that watching is a lot easier than doing, but it didn't look all that difficult.

I wouldn't think trying to cut them off is a good idea, as you might get debris down into the engine. Pulling them off looked to be considerably easier than installing them, besides I think they'd be pretty hard to cut anyway!

Yep, once you loosen the V clamp between the turbo and Y-pipe and remove the Y pipe then they just slide off once the band clamps are loosened. Just did mine this weekend about 2 hours taking your time and cleaning everything as you go.

http://www.dieselsite.com/index.asp?...ROD&ProdID=548 has some very good ones.

OK..Thanks guys.. Sounds like it's not too bad of a job.. Looks the trick is to install both hoses onto the manifold at the same. One more question.. Is there some kind of seal on the connection from y pipe to the turbo.? Or is just metal to metal?

I find it easy to put one boot on the intake plenum, and then on the opposite side put the boot on the manifold and then hang the clamps on the plenums and then it slides in very easily.
