Electrical Circuit Question - '89 F-250

Hi all,

This is my first post. I spend most of my time on Full Size Chevy forums because that is what I own. However, as my dad and his truck get older, I find myself working on his 1989 5.8L F-250 quite a bit also. I know it may be sacrilege to say this, but I like both Ford and Chevy trucks.

In the past I have used this forum to help troubleshoot other problems on my dad’s truck – I decided it was time to register.

Enough babbling – on to the topic at hand:

Can anyone look up an electrical schematic for my dad’s truck that would show the circuit that includes the under-hood light? I have checked the bulb and the sensor and they both work fine. However, the wire that feeds power to the circuit is never hot. I pulled it apart at the green connector and it never has power. I just need to know where this is fed from so I can figure out why it is dead.

Thanks all,

Tinkerer

mangopug and subford - Thank you very much for your responses.

subford - I have found some of your past posts very helpful in troubleshooting other problems. Thanks for sending this schematic. I will take it out to my dad's house and see if I can track down the problem. Near the top left side of the schematic, where it says "Fuse Panel - Page 17", do you know if terminal "8" on the 15 amp fuse means it is fuse number 8?

Thanks,

Tinkerer

subford! - Thank you very much!

This should make it very easy to trace the problem.

I owe you.
