Hey gang.. Been long morning... IC parts are drying, i just cleaned them out.. Took 9 cans of brake cleaner.. They had some serious oil in them..

I believe I've narrowed the coolant situation down.. When we put the filter in of course we introduced air into the system.. Well I wasn't using my head so when I was refilling the system due to us loosing about a gallon or more.. I would fill it up, close the lid, start it, turn it off and fill it again.. Basically I wasn't purging the system by leaving the cap open while it was idling and filling it up.. So I believe what happen was.. When I was boosting 35lbs the pressure increased and sent that bubble out into the Degas bottle.. It would explain why coolant went everywhere because an air bubble bursting will eject liquid like crazy.. Seen it a 100 times.. I did recheck the entire system and she's perfectly fine.. No problems, cracks, tears or anything.. In bout 30 mins I'm going to put her back together.. Pop the Degas cap and let it idle for about 15 mins to purge the system.. I should be ok..

Storm,

The orange paint on 1 turbine wheel is normal and is a refrence mark used when building the turbo.

As for boost and coolant pressure, the two are not related. Boost pressure/cylinder pressure can only mix if there is a Leaking EGR cooler or lifted head gasket.

The lost coolant could very well just be from lack of purging the coolant system of air properly. You have to get the thermostat to open to properly purge the system.

High boost issues are another problem all together and are more than likely a turbo issue.

Hope this helps

Lol.. I just got rained out now.. Half my engine put back together.. Ugh.. I can't fit her nose in the garage with the lift

Ok.. So gimme idea how I can get the thermostat open? I assume the idling 15-20min with cap off will heat up the engine enough to open the thermo and cycle the coolant.. With the cap off it'll burp the air out right?

I'm done.. Whew.. Man this took a toll on my back.. Even with the GoRhino Step Bar Brush Guard..

9 cans of brake cleaner later the pipes and all boots are looking beautiful.. I sprayed all connections with hair spray, lined everything up and tightened it to 9lb/ft tq.. They are TIGHT! much tighter then I've ever got them with my own hands..

I also ran it for 15 minutes with the degas cap off.. Hopefully it purged.. I also noticed I'm now between MIN and MAX on the factory markings.. I'm headin out to get a turkey baster to suck out the excess coolant..

So hopefully problem 1 is fixed..

You also need to run your heater off and on a few times and keep checking your coolant. Mine has gone down three times with my coolant filter change. It takes a while to get all the air out. You might want to run a stock tune for a while till your bottle stops showing low.

I wont be draining coolant til tomorrow.. I'm beat.. So I'm relaxing..

I did the hairspray trick and everything is 9lbs/ft tq.. I was told to drive it normal for couple days and let the boots adhere to the IC pipes.. Recommended? Can't test the boost until then..

Storm---Check the tech folder for the CCV reroute mod. Your intake system is full of oil because of the crankcase ventilation hose that runs into the bottom of your intake tube. Matt used to have a write up in there on the easiest way to do it. It's really simple and will eventually eliminate the oil in your clean air system.

2005 /6.0 75,000miles.........I loose a bit of coolant out the reservoir cap when chipped out to max. if I hammer the throttle. Last week I took the chip out and ran for a week with the stock tune. (lost 2 miles per gal. and missed the power) I hammered the throttle a few times and did blow anti-freeze out the cap. I asked the mechanic about that and he told me that it could be the head gasket. If you build up enough boost the head gasket could lift a bit and leak some pressure into the cooling system. Thats why it blows out the cap. There is a TSB on that from Ford. They can do a pressure cap test and if it goes above 18psi they will replace the head gasket. Ô¿Ô

Here is the latest TSB on coolant out the degass bottle cap. It can be caused by multiple things.
