emissions

ok i failed my emissions. I've replaced the manifold with headers and had everything behind that replaced, new cat, muffler and so on. I'd been needing to do that for a while. Also changed the oil and filter, was a bit overdue. Replaced spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor. all were needed. My next thought would be a bad vacuum leak. but i don't hear anything OBVIOUS. whats the process for checking for a vacuum leak?

THanks

Keith

What you should do is first visually check all the lines to make sure they are connected to the correct things. Then, I would suggest replacing the rubber lines since they can crack and not be easily visible. Also, are you getting poorer gas mileage than usual? You might want to pull codes just in case something like a sensor or electronic thing is fouling up the engine.

tried to pull codes with a scan tool, nothing popped up. i have a cracked "hard emissions" hose. there are three of them that wrap around the back of the engine. two go to the coffee can and one goes to the underside of somthing or other on teh passenger side of the engine.
