I currently have a leveling kit and was looking into getting a set of 5100 adjustable bilstein shocks. I was wondering if the leveling kit and shocks would have an additive effect (which I dont want) or would work well with each other? Has anyone done this yet? Do these shocks raise the backend any?
From my understanding of them, the front 5100 can increase ride height if desired. The rear will not, but it is an application for an already/otherwise lifted suspension. Do you want the back raised?
If I were in your shoes, I would get the bilsteins and sell the leveling kit you currently have. You could most likely use the two front lift options together, but I doubt it would be a good idea (alignment reasons). You could likewise run the Bilstein at 0" raise/lift and keep the leveling kit, but what's the point?
I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong on any points. Good luck.
I have not heard of this? Just to clarify, you are saying the shock absorber alone can actually raise the height of the truck? Or is it that the shock is compatible with a raise in ride height, but can't physically raise the height on it's own?
The Bilsteins have an adjustable plate that allows you to adjust the ride height on the front shocks. I was considering doing the leveling kit but when I found the Bilsteins for under $400 for the set of four it seemed like a better option.
I'd loose the leveling kit and go with the Bilsteins alone.
