The "colon" canister as I sometimes refer to it as is probably full of raw gas and that is what you are smelling when you stop the truck.Start by checking the hoses going to it for fit and proper location on both ends{refer to the underhood diagram}.I believe there may be a check valve in one of the lines ? You may try a new gas cap also if the tank seems to pressure up somewhat.If none of this works,you'll just have to change the canister.
