1993 Ford Bronco Transmission
I own a 93 Full-size Bronco Eddie Bower the engine is a 5.8 350. My automatic transmission is shuttering. I had it serviced and it was suggested to replace it in a year. I would like to put a more high performance unit in. I do not 4 wheel much it is mainly for mountain driving in the snow, so I'm interested in a transmission that will get better Freeway mileage. I know nothing about this subject but would really like to become more informed any suggestions for parts, WebPages or anything that might help me decide on the best possible transmission is appreciated. THANKS

Your torque converter clutch might be slipping. It happened to my 94 F350 diesel. Most apparent while under very slight acceleration in overdrive at highway speeds. I can tell you that you want to do something about it very soon. Your system is not set up to allow the clutch to slip and will overheat easily. Heat is #1 enemy of your tranny. Cheapest way out is just to replace the torque converter and install an aftermarket trans. controller. It will modify the shift strategy and prolong the life of your new torque converter clutch.
