is there any way to make/get a bronco to beat a bmw m3? a friend of mine has an 86 m3 and thinks that it's the cat’s meow, and I would severely love to beat him in a ford. and to add insult to injury do it in a truck, btw he is a die hard chevy fan any help would greatly be appreciated
Or you can just wait. When his ride breaks, he'll have to remortgage his house just to have it fixed............and you'll still be running along at a much lower cost.
I had a '79 with a 429 that would have buried him in my molten rubber. I now have a '79 with an old 400 that would probably smoke him too. What engine do you have? If it's a 300 or 302 it isn't likely to happen. If you have the windsor theres a chance but it will require engine work. He probably has 1k less in poundage tehn work out the hp.
I'm sure it's possible but not practical. I've seen people make "race" Bronco's but come on. You're starting out with a such a disadvantage cuz the thing is so heavy! Get you a Fox body mustang and put a few thousand in the 302 and you can beat him.
I would say that the mustang or a t-bird/cougar from the mid to late eighties would be a good starting point, fox bodies. Otherwise, 460 all the way. You are severly disadvantaged against the BMW because it is a traditionally a very high performing motor and a lightwieght car. A 302 would be a good place to start but a 351 would be nice in the fox body but you are still heavy on the weight side. Personally, without cash, you will only be making a vehicle that has to use mild preformance engines that are heavy to compete against his higher reving inline 6.
Who do you bet on, the alligator or the bear? Depends on where the fight is. In the swamp, you bet 'gator.
Your Bronco is designed for one thing, the BMW for another. The BMW will suck and get stuck trying to follow the Bronco. The Bronco will crash trying to keep up with the Beemer on twisty asphalt.
