I have a 2004 f150 fx4 scab.
When i hit the gas pedal, there is a pause for a few seconds.
No quick acceleration. Is this a computer problem, or tranny, or motor.
When this pause goes away, then there is lots of acceleration.
Any input would be appreciated.

Is it all the time or just from a stop?

Do you have a check engine light or is the light of the little wrench on?

My guess would be either the electronic throttle body has gunk in it or the PCM could use a re-programming.

Hopefully the more experienced will chime in.

No check engine or any lights on. I can be driving about 30km/h. I push on the gas pedal, no acceleration. Its like the engine wants to stall.

Since you do not have any lights and it is not just at a stop I will still go with a PCM re-program. Either way it needs to go in. Let us know what happens.

I will say that I just had my wifes Explorer PCM re-programed and it made a heck of a difference. It was covered by Ford but the cost would have been only $50.00.

Good luck.

Again maybe someone else has more.
