Hi....I've been reading about this little engine performance booster after seeing it on a tv commercial....It sounds great in theory and the price is right.....to good to be true?
Has anyone tried this thing....? Better mileage & HP??
I think this thig is a bunch of BS. By the time the air gets to the intake, what difference does it make? This device does not let more air get to the engine.
You are welcome to buy it and test, but I guarantee you your fuel mileage will not increase, neither will you notice any power increase.
If you really want to do something worth while, go with a K&N filter and air cleaner. The K&N filters breathe better than stock and help power noticeable. We are not talking a 50hp increase but along maybe 5! Notice that K&N kits are quite pricey.
If it is too good to be true, it usually indeed is. ))
Want the real McCoy? Get a Powerade Throttlebody Spacer. Has no air restrictions like the air blocking Tornado. Easy to install and about the same price. I just got one. Love it. Look into a K&N system too. Awesome difference from the stock air intake.
Theoretically a tornadic fuel swirling device would help. All the demonstrations are true to form on the infomerical, but think of how far the air has to travel after swirling before it reaches the actual intake port. The invention creates restrictions, then there are other restrictions like the spacer, the changes in direction, and other little oolies (scientific word for crap). These make the invention impractical.
What would work would be an invention that causes the air to swirl at the throttle body. Yes, the afore mentioned throttle body spacer is along those lines, but the air is actually moving to fast and is not compressed enough to make any use of the swirl vanes of the screw. A compressed air volume would also be a restriction and create performance issues as well. Unless you put in a turbo . The only real advantage of the throttle body spacer is it limits the restrictions by having a slightly larger opening than stock. Then you would need another swirling device at the intake port to make sure the mixture is evenly distributed as it it hits the cylinder. More money than its worth.
Some people will see performance gains because of the location of the swirling device in the air intake, it actually does mix the air/fuel mixture better. Overall, I think a restriction in the intake would be a bad idea. It would be better to buy a chip and reprogram the fuel delivery system and timing.
