Hello everyone, I just bought a 1955 F250 stepside longbed automatic V8, now I just need to get it home, anybody now how wide the truck is, my trailor is only 6'-4" and has pipe rails
Hi jared
and welcome to FTE. I only have the specs on the f-100 trucks, but I know that there are several members with 250s and up that can give you what you need... BTW the F-100s were 6'4" fender lip to fender lip... so I'll bet the 250s were in that ball park... how high are the rails... you might not have a problem with body interference... or you might have to lay down some 2x lumber to get the truck up a little to clear the rails
you've found the very best site for getting help and information on your truck. When you get it home (or goto get it...) start taking pictures, build a gallery here and start posting them... we like pictures... your truck looks like a fine project start.
think up all your questions and ask away... sometimes we can stumble across an accurate answer for you
Check out the search feature and the article/spec page.Lots of good info here. You gonna stay stock or come over to the darkside of custom trucks ??
got a parts truck i bought thats got a monte front clip under it seems to be a pretty good fit . when me and the putor come to terms again ill have some pics up you can see .
Welcome to the board, and to the darkside (its rumored that we have cookies)
I think it would be a tight fit on a 6' 4" trailer, Like John said you would probably have to lay some rails down to get the truck high enough to clear the pipe rails on the trailer (not a fun project but it can be done)
As far as the Poncho is concerned? I don't know, but anything is possible. When you get settled in and get things figured out, take a few minutes (yeah right) and get a gallery set up. We love pictures!

Jared,
Another Welcome to FTE! I saw that truck on the Craigslist yesterday-glad you gave it a good home. I'm anxious to see more pics of the truck and hear your plans.
Is the 88 GP a dual A-arm suspension or does it have struts? I've got a Camaro clip under mine-it didn't just "slip in" but it has worked out well for me.
There's another guy in the DFW area, F250Rob that has a 56. Unfortunately, I think I made him mad and he moved it back to CA. He's going to follow it in a month or two. Fill out your location when you get a chance.
Welcome and Good Luck!
I have a 54 f 250 stepside .installed 9in. rearend, front disc conv. cab is same as F100 but fenders are bigger.front axel and spindles are same as f100 but a moot point if you are going with a different suspension.I am no expert but been around Fords and Y-blocks for about 50 years so I may have a few answers, maybe even a right one.
