im at work so i dont have crap for links, i know cutts has some too, are you wanting to go the $$$ double ended ram type setup or something like a 2"x8" TSC ram from the axle to stock tierod??
if yall have any equipment junkyard around you can probably find you and orbital to work
Do some searching on google, youl find some helpful info
i say sell you current axles tires and wheels to some jeep guy and find either rockies or 1 tons and put on 44's or so.....beating around the bush and wasting a bunch of money on small upgrades sucks...i say just go ahead and do it like you want it.....i say that from experiance
Surely you could find an old 6x6 truck aorund there in a field somewhere, then if you had to you could run the stock military rib tires (about 38") till you found a deal on some tires and or tires and wheels
Thomsen - I am still going to run leafs in the rear since I'm too cheap to get into a 4 link. I might end up using my stock 1/2 2wd leafs that were originally on my '67 when I got it. Or else remove a leaf or 2 from the 4" skyjacker springs I have now.
I just built a shackle flip kit this afternoon that I stole a few ideas from sky manufacturing. I'm also building a beefy set of shackles to go with it as soon as my old man gets home from town (sent him to get iron for me).
Kubota - I'm looking to do this as cheap as possible. Once I find out exactly what kind of a Ram I need, and valve, etc I'd imagine I'll be able to find it dirt cheap living in a farming area. I was told to run a Saginaw pump and to modify it the way west texas offroad reccomends. Will I also need a seperate reservoir for the fluid?
I'll do some googling tonite, right now I'm going to go get back at wrenching on the truck. I'm hoping to get it driving in the next day or 2 (rear wheel drive), I'm going to run my dana 60 for the time being in the rear. I have a buddy that I might be getting his '89 F250 for free (I'm assuming a 10.25 or 10.50 rear, it has a 460 fuelie, ZF5speed.)
I just did some research on hydro steer and I think I actually have 2 of the orbital steer units laying around! I'm going to go out to the shop an check 'em out an see if they're good.
I did some checking, neither one I have will work just my luck!

im gonna have to stay with kubota about the axle thing. by the time you break those stock 1/2 ton shafts and buy chromolys for the front, you are 2/3's the way of getting a 60 front. and as of after this weekend from breaking the inner and outer driver side shafts i have come to that conclusion.
everyone always forgets rockies, they are cheaper than 1 tons if your not driving it on the road all the time(pinion brakes instead of wheelbrakes)
You already have 6.72 gears, weld the rear and put a drop in 300 dollar detroit in the front, the rockwells use 1410 yokes, so nows the time to bulletproof the rest of the driveline.... freshen everything and your good to go
If i coudl find someone to buy my one tons and me not lose my butt on them i woudl do rockies in a heartbeat!
No progress yet. Been swamped with spraying an gettin stuck in the fields. Hopefully I'll get some time here soon to get 'er rolling again. If I can hammer on it for a day I should have it up an running.
