door locks

Question door locks

I have a 1997 explorer that both back doors will not open from inside. Have checked the plastic loops on the handle and have spayed cleaner and lube on kid proof locks to no avail. they still will not open from iiside. open perfect from outside???? can these be bypassed or something ??? any idea's ???

Check the handle again, there are plastic teeth that shear off, only fix is to replace handle module

i did all the teeth are in tact. I actually had a broken handle a few years back, that was the first thing I ck'd.the handle and the rod seem to move but lack that last little bit to open the door . I have messed with the child proof locks alot and am stumped.

will it open if you manualy pull on the linkage?

Ok that tells me the locking mechanism is working.

There are flat actuator tabs on the lock which are pulled by the rods, they are probably bent out of alignment.

You have a choice, either straighten out the tabs or shorten the rods.
