I'm a new member and a new owner of a 2005 F250 Harley Davidson Edition with the 6.0 and 26,000 miles on it. I've heard that there were many issues with the turbo on these ? The truck has set in the garage since buying it in Feb. of 2007. I have only driven it occasionly and just recently this last weekend. I have changed out the air intake to an AIRAID system.

What I'm now noticing is the turbo boost is not working all the time. It seems that it works intermittingly. One 35 mile trip it did not work until I romped it down completly, then it just picked up a little. But what is puzzling is the ride home after shutting it off and back on it worked fine. Then the next day it is back to not working again.
Has anyone experienced problems like this ?

Welcome to the site!!!

You might want to check out the 6.0l diesel forum:
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum107/
And the Ohio chapter - to find fellow Ford owners in your area.
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum91/

Now - as for your problem. I can almost guarantee is sticking turbo vanes.
The turbo on your 6.0l has vanes than guide the exhaust air into different parts of the turbine - depending on your rpms. Sounds like they were stuck closed.
The turbo's don't usually have many problems on these trucks - but this is definately thier weakest point, especially on trucks that don't tow much. (if you get the turbo really hot it burns the soot out which sticks the vanes).

I would suggest taking to your dealer (it will still be within warranty), and they will most likely re-flash your computer, and replace the turbo. Once completed, disconnect your EGR (instructions are in the 6.0l PSD forum), and then - every now and then don't be afraid to "romp on it" every now and then... the users that seem to have the least troubles with these engines are the ones that use them for pulling houses off foundations, and other equally strenuous tasks.

Anyhow, hope that helps

Thanks very much fo the info. I was leaning toward the fact that I have left it set so much and have only driven it occasionally. It sounds like that will increase the likeliness of problems with the turbo.
I'll be making an appointment with my dealer. Thanks
