Anyone check out Zap cars?
They have one model (Zap X (Lotus engineering) that has 4 electric motors (one on each wheel)
"Supposedly" it's the equivalent to 644 h.p.
Specs out at 0-60 in 4.8 seconds, 155 m.p.h. top speed (almost as fast as my 81 F150 4.9)

In the environmental context, the problem with electric cars is that the electricity still has to be generated somewhere. That means a coal-fired plant, or nuclear or hydro-electric, or....it doesn't just spring out of the ether - usually you've just shifted the polluting activity from your local street to an industrial site on the edge of town.

fred_79f250, I thought about the pollution aspect of feeding an electric car, but there is no free ride, just some more efficient and less polluting than others.
Now if they could make a roof mounted solar panel that was as efficient and quick as an electrical outlet to charge the batteries, they'd have something there.

Nighttime would be another problem.
