In the environmental context, the problem with electric cars is that the electricity still has to be generated somewhere. That means a coal-fired plant, or nuclear or hydro-electric, or....it doesn't just spring out of the ether - usually you've just shifted the polluting activity from your local street to an industrial site on the edge of town.

fred_79f250, I thought about the pollution aspect of feeding an electric car, but there is no free ride, just some more efficient and less polluting than others.
Now if they could make a roof mounted solar panel that was as efficient and quick as an electrical outlet to charge the batteries, they'd have something there.
