I took my 2000 in to the shop to check pressure on my exhaust. The meter showed less than 3psi at full throtle and this is stock. The guy told me the cats empty and that this could cause the o2 sensors to stay to cool. Meaning bad mpg. Can any one elaborate on this? He allso told me about some resistors that could fool the sensors. I surtanly don't want to shell out 450 on a new cat, since the better the flow the better it gos so I have heard. Thanks.
You might not be getting responses because most people are tired of the same old "which muffler sounds good on a V10". You might want to change the title of the post, don't even know if you can do that.
Do you trust this muffler shop?
How bad is your mileage? Why exactly do you suspect something is wrong? Does the truck run good and just get bad mileage?
Some more info on the truck and history of the current problem and any mods you have done will help.

Sorry I missed this one.
The catalytic converter on the V10 (and I'm assuming the V8) is so big, it's not going to be a restriction for ANYTHING. The only thing it has a problem with is noise
If it's a 2000, it most likely doesn't have an O2 sensor after the cat, does it?
I found the problem! Aparentlly the trany filter was stoped up. I realized I have only had it flushed 2 times in 145000 miles. Changed the filter and oil ran it a day then changed fluid again. So its back up to 12.5 mpg from 10. Its allways run strong but a 25% loss in mpg was worth looking into. I have a f250 sc 4/4 with superchips gold chip, throtle spacer, k&n and homeade cold air/ ram air. The only thing that made a big differance was the cold/ram mod.
Hey im new to this site and have no clue how to ask a question. I GOT A 01 V10 WHICH im looking to put a chip on.. how does that gold chip work for you, is it any good. any body kno what would be the tune to go with on this truck.. Thanks
Superchips or any of the shelf tuner has junk tunes and is a waste of money. Only get a tuner with custom tunes from a good shop. Stay away from anyone who wants to do a resitor hack job on your truck to "fool it" into doing something. The guys at the exhaust shops in my area are barely smart enough to hang mufflers and mig weld, not someone I would take any kind of tuning or diognostic advice from.

5startuning.com will help you better than any other place... Mike Butler is the guy you will talk to if you call, i have used other tuners and the SCT X3 that mike will suggest to you is the way to go...
